yoyo |  After leaving Indiana and earning a Geology degree at Colorado College, David proved to his parents that he was capable of both getting a job and procrastinating in getting a real job by working the harvest at Niebaum-Coppola. Fascinated by wine and undeterred by slave wages, he enrolled at UC Davis to study Enology and Viticulture. He worked the 1984 harvest at Joseph Phelps, and then earned a spot at Far Niente, where he founded their Late Harvest program, Dolce, and served as Winemaker from 1985 to 1993. John Buehler recruited David in 1993, and they celebrated their 13th Harvest together in 2005. When he is not crafting Buehler’s sumptuous wines, David tends his own small winemaking venture, Blackford, which specializes in Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. |
